Eleven locally licensed lawyers, the resident Circuit Court Judge, and a dozen other observers from law enforcement, medical, and other community-based groups learned about how to strive for a paperless office Wednesday through a Virginia Law Foundation course sposnored by the Clerk of Court Jack Kenedy and the Wise County and Norton Bar Association."The object of the October 31st course was to begin to enable the paperless office," says Clerk of Court Jack Kennedy. "Helping the legal and busines communities transition will help us all."
The 6-hour CLE course is entitled: "Digital Paper: Scanning, Paper-Reduction Strategies, and a Lawyer's Guide to Adobe Acrobat" was held at the Poor Farm Causual Cafe on Main Street, Wise. The course was so popular it may be repeated, Kennedy said. Many of the participants expressed interest in watching it again.
A second 6-hour CLE course is entitled: "Electronic Document Retention and Management: A Comprehensive Primer on Policies, Practices, and E-Discovery" is still being planned for later this year. The cost is $209 for lawyers and will have 6-hours of Continuing Legal Education [CLE] credit.
